Privacy statement

General

VDL Group welcomes you on this website and appreciates your interest in our company and our products and services. VDL Group attaches great importance to your privacy. Therefore, we believe it is important to inform you how we handle your personal data. This privacy policy applies to all personal data that visitors leave on the VDL Group B.V. website or the websites of its subsidiaries. For the sake of transparency, we have described in this privacy policy what we do with these data.

Types of personal data

The personal data processed by VDL via the website often include your contact details such as a name and email address, a search query you enter, or a question you ask in the input form. Additionally, you can search for job vacancies using the ‘Vacancies, Working at VDL, Internships & Education and Contact’ functions; these searches can also be stored and linked to, for example, your IP address, as well as the information uploaded or entered by a website visitor on the website. Of course, we also process uploaded CVs and cover letters.

Additionally, information can be automatically stored about you as a visitor to this website, such as your IP address and your clicking behavior. We often retrieve this information directly through your visit using so-called cookies. You can find more information about this in the cookie statement.

We would like to point out that even if you visit the website as a business customer, we consider this data as (indirect) personal data and therefore protect your privacy.

Purpose for processing personal data

The information you provide via the website to VDL Group will be processed by us for general business purposes such as providing information about certain products and services. With the stored personal data, we can then get in touch with you.
Your data can also be used for sending digital newsletters, provided you have given your explicit consent for this. We consider this form of contact to be VDL’s legitimate interest.

Additionally, the website is intended as an application channel, and vacancies are also displayed via the website. These processing activities are also considered VDL’s legitimate interest, as well as necessary for the exercise of (the preparation of) an employment contract.

Receiving parties

The processing activities at least include the sending of personal data within VDL Group. This website serves as a central point, and personal data are forwarded to the relevant entity you wish to contact as a business customer or applicant. Of course, these personal data are only transferred if there is a necessary reason for it and only to recipients for whom the personal data are relevant. It may happen that your data are shared with foreign VDL entities.

If VDL believes that you are using the website unlawfully, this is a reason to forward your personal data to a (legal) third party recipient.

On our website, you will find buttons in various places that provide access to social media channels. If you use these social media buttons, the privacy statement of the respective social media applies, and they will store your personal data accordingly. VDL has no influence over, and does not take responsibility for, the use of social media buttons on the VDL website.

Retention period

VDL Group does not retain your data longer than strictly necessary. For the purposes described above, a retention period of 6 months is reasonable. Additionally, VDL may retain anonymized data for statistical and research purposes. For personal data received in connection with a job application or the process leading to it, VDL will not keep this information longer than 4 weeks after the closure of the relevant procedure. If VDL has requested and obtained your consent, VDL may retain these application details for a maximum of one year.

Your rights

Because we process your personal data, you have the right to:

  • Submit a request to access your personal data;
  • Submit a request to correct or delete certain data if the personal data are irrelevant or incorrect;
  • Submit a request to restrict and object to the processing of personal data;
  • Submit a request for data portability;

If you wish to make use of (one of) these options, you can contact: AVG@vdl.nl. For all requests and your rights, VDL will weigh the interests involved and will do its best to comply with your request. If for any reason you wish to withdraw your consent, we are obliged to respect this.

All personal data you leave on this website are provided voluntarily. However, it goes without saying that we are unable to make contact, provide information, or carry out an application process if we do not possess the correct personal data.

Changes and notifications about your privacy

If you have any questions or comments about our processing of your personal data, we kindly ask you to contact us via AVG@vdl.nl. We will do our utmost to assist you. If you wish to respond to this privacy policy or believe that VDL Group is not acting in accordance with this privacy policy, we ask you to contact VDL Group via AVG@vdl.nl. If we cannot resolve the issue, you always have the option to report it to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.

This privacy policy was last updated on 25 May 2018 and applies to VDL Groep B.V., (Postbus 8811, 5605 LV Eindhoven, Netherlands). If VDL chooses to change this privacy policy, we will inform you on this page.
